Barrick needed a solution to monitor remote locations at their Cortez gold mine. Barrick found Xenula Corporation’s Portable Surveillance Unit (XPSU) was the perfect way to quickly and easily monitor vast amounts of land with little accessiblity and no infrastructure. The XPSU is the perfect solution for Barrick because of its remote Internet connectivivity, its ability to withstand a harsh climate with no maintenance for months at a time, its months of recording capacity, its quick and easy movability, and its ability to monitor a large area day or night in absolute darkness. Barrick deployed two double fixed body portable surveillance units and has plans to purchase more.
The Xenula Portable Surveillance Unit (XPSU) is a mobile security solution that provides 24x7 accessibility to on-site monitoring and augments existing security personnel. The system integrates current technologies for cameras, mobile communication, and video archiving and monitoring. Users are able to view live footage of the location or access stored footage in the future. The general applications of the XPSU include monitoring on-site progress and activities, deterring criminal behavior, and providing evidence for dynamic problem solving. Xenula Corporation improves security at Pollack Tempe Cinemas Download PDF
Upon acquisition of the Royal Palms Plaza, where Tempe Cinemas is located, Michael A. Pollack, President of Michael A. Pollack Real Estate Investments, took over the management of the theaters. Much like he does with shopping centers, Michael immediately began a major overhaul of the interior and exterior of the facilities while leaving the time tested theater management staff in place. Previously the theater was a drab and uninviting place. Before Pollack management, Tempe Cinemas never saw more than 1,000 guests in any given day. Today the new Pollack Tempe Cinemas has more character and personality than any other discount theater in Arizona and often sees its guest count reach upwards of 4,000 on any given weekend!
The aging surveillance system was the latest feature of the Pollack Tempe Cinemas to be renovated. With the success of the newly installed surveillance system at his headquarters, Pollack contacted Xenula to install an extensive CCTV video surveillance system at his theater.
Xenula’s engineers and technicians implemented a solution to revitalize the security of the theatre and surrounding businesses in the plaza. Xenula installed a multitude of high-resolution 540 line true day/night cameras. These cameras deliver a crystal clear image to new multi-terabyte redundant DVRs (Digital Video Recorders) during the daytime and nighttime. The installation and placement of these cameras, and the DVR that is accessible from anywhere in the world over the Internet, provides reliable 24x7 security for all individuals and assets inside and outside of the Pollack Tempe Cinemas. The theater’s new robust surveillance system will provide a high return on investment and will increase employee productivity and protect against losses and damages.

Michael A. Pollack enlists Xenula Corporation to enhance security at his headquarters Download PDF
Established in 1973 in San Jose, Calif., Michael A. Pollack Real Estate Investments is a full-service real estate company specializing in asset management, leasing, development and redevelopment of its own property portfolio. Today, Michael A. Pollack Real Estate Investments and its affiliated entities are one of Arizona’s largest independent shopping center owners and operators. The companies currently own or control nearly 60 shopping centers in metropolitan Phoenix alone. Its Arizona portfolio includes renovated retail centers in Phoenix, Tempe, Mesa, Chandler, Glendale, Peoria and Tucson, which industry sources value at more than $300 million.
Michael A. Pollack’s headquarters were being monitored by an antiquated surveillance system when Pollack called upon Xenula Corporation to replace the system with a higher quality new system. Pollack’s headquarters is a unique 31,000 square foot office space, featuring a full video arcade, a 1950’s café modeled lunch room, and the world’s largest private antique advertising memorabilia museum.
Xenula’s engineers and technicians implemented a solution to revitalize the security of the entire complex. To cover all areas of the large parking lot surrounding Pollack’s office building, Bosch auto tracking PTZ (Pan, Tilt, and Zoom) cameras were installed. Upon first glance, these cameras look no different than typical PTZ dome cameras, but these cameras have superior features including the ability to follow moving objects in all directions and zoom to fit the profile of the person or vehicle into the field of view…automatically. These features allow for capturing video footage of a person or vehicle from the time they enter the parking lot to the time they exit, while recording all events in between with optimal field of vision and clarity, regardless of the amount of darkness.
For the inside of the building, Xenula installed a multitude of high-resolution 540 TV line true day/night cameras. These cameras deliver a crystal clear image to new multi-terabyte redundant DVRs (Digital Video Recorders) during the daytime and nighttime. The installation and placement of these cameras, and the DVR that is accessible from anywhere in the world over the Internet, provides reliable 24x7 security for all individuals and assets inside and outside of Pollack’s headquarters. Pollack’s new robust surveillance system will provide a high return on his investment and will increase employee productivity and protect against losses and damages.

AIMCO chooses Xenula Corporation for 3 multihousing communities Download PDF
Apartment Investment and Management Company (AIMCO) is the nation’s largest owner and operator of apartment communities, with nearly 1,194 communities that include approximately 206,217 units. Operating as a real estate investment trust (REIT), AIMCO engages in the acquisition, ownership, management and redevelopment of apartment communities in 47 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. The company serves nearly 750,000 residents each year.
To meet the challenge of providing a robust security system at The Greens apartment community in Chandler, Arizona, AIMCO selected Xenula Corporation to design and implement a Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) surveillance system. Xenula developed a customized solution that monitors the community’s gates, parking areas, common areas, and facilities that span the entirety of a large property with 29 buildings, 2 large pool areas, 5 entry gates, and hundreds of parking spaces.
Xenula’s engineers met with the AIMCO property managers to evaluate and develop a community-wide security strategy and action plan. Xenula’s solution included installing a 5.7 GHz broadband wireless network utilizing an access point and 7 subscriber modules across the entire community in order to support 22 network cameras. Each of the 22 network cameras delivers a crystal clear high-resolution image back to the digital video recorder (DVR), which was securely installed in The Greens main office. This DVR stores months of motion-activated video footage, offers license plate recognition, and is accessible for viewing and playback anywhere in the world through the Internet. Xenula executed a rapid deployment schedule that provided the AIMCO property with a fully-functional system in 3 weeks. AIMCO selected Xenula due to the company’s professionalism and standard of excellence. This was evident in the strategic placement of the CCTV surveillance system in order to prevent eyesores for the residents while also optimizing the effectiveness of the surveillance system. Throughout the deployment of the system, the residents and AIMCO employees were minimally disturbed by the installation. With the utilization of broadband wireless technology to network all the cameras, it is not necessary to dig up pavement and install miles of conduit underground, and with the robustness of the equipment, no quality is sacrificed.
Due to the rapid delivery and high quality of the customized CCTV surveillance system at The Greens, AIMCO has contracted Xenula to install customized solutions at 2 additional properties in Phoenix, Arizona. Within a month time frame, Xenula installed an 18-camera system for The Crossroads apartment community, which consists of 19 buildings, 2 pools, 3 entry gates, and hundreds of parking spaces, and a 16-camera system for Wickertree apartment homes with 10 buildings, 2 entry gates, a pool, and hundreds of parking spaces. The AIMCO property managers are very pleased with Xenula’s performance, efficiency and customer service, and look forward to building a long-term relationship with the surveillance systems provider.
